Mulu, Sarawak Trip 2008

1_144786053l

These smiles reminds me the time when I was studying in Kuala Lumpur (KL). The best ever schooling memories I have and the true friendship around me. This article specially dedicated to my all time best buddy and soulmate, Adlyn Yee.

1_375168526l

After a fantastic promotion by Christina Lim, we decided travel to one of our country, Malaysia Park in Gunung Mulu. This happen on July. Adlyn was rushing all her assignment just to make this trip to be possible. So gam dong~~

1_386958451l

We almost miss our flight for this trip as both of us were overlook the time of the flight but thanks god we make it to this beautiful land.

1_714074384l

It seems like everything in Mulu is BIG~! They have BIG CAVES WITH BIG HOLES above.

1_654885195l

BIG ROCK which look like err…penis? or poopoo?

1_910992423l

And the BIG TREE with the short girl. Haha~~ I am just joking~ In fact, the tree is too huge.

1_322074799l

While we make our way to clear water, I fall in love with the natural scenery along the river. It was soooooo nice~~!! I have to indicate a lots of OOOOOOOOO in the SOOOOOOO to express my feeling towards these scenery.

1_936236575l

This scene reminds me the history of our Malaysia which once was a great Malay Empires. It makes me feel like I am back to 1300s, searching for my dream guy… Hang Jebat? Haha..

1_514951995l

Adlyn reminds me of the SS (syok sendiri) session when she was taking the photo of her own. I forced her to take a pic of me as she was kind of worry that the camera will fall into the river when she had difficulties to turn around. Thanks mate

1_846551593l

I love the water in front of the waterfall as it was so cooling. A lot of foreign visitors hoop into the water and enjoy their swim. Well, we cant do so as we didnt bring any extra shirt for that. TOOOO BAD..

1_848298000l

1_627424400l

This was taken while we on the canopy walk. Its far away high from the ground but its a nice experience to walk on it. We can heard some girls was grinning for the height. Haha~

1_924824090l

Oh yea.. before I forgot, I need to promote this long house accommodation. Its only cost RM120 per night but the room is BIG and the bath room is HUGE. Of course you don’t have to worry about the mosquito at all as the management talk all pre-caution step for that *winks*

19072008(013)

Lastly, thanks to Adlyn who make this trip fun and full of joys with her AH-MA style joking. It was a nice trip after all.. =)

The clip was taken during the wait for the arrival of tour guide. We are just vain~~!! haha!

HOW TO GET THERE

You have to take a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Miri and connect your flight from Miri to Mulu. Only MAS WING is available for this route. For Malaysian, even you are holding Malaysian Passport, you still need to provide your passport for flying to east malaysia. You are only allow to stay for 3 months as visitor.

PLACES TO VISIT

  1. DEER CAVES
  2. BAT FLYING
  3. CLEAR WATER
  4. MULU VILLAGE MARKET
  5. CANOPY WALK
  6. TRADITIONAL LONG HOUSE
  7. WIND CAVE

TRAVEL SUGGESTIONS

Before you go to Mulu, remember to buy as much food or tibits for yourself as it is costly in Mulu. A plate of normal fried rice will cost RM10 bucks. That is horrible.

Things you have to grab

  1. Umbrella/Rain Coat – the weather over there is rainny. That’s why it called THE RAIN FOREST
  2. Mosquito Cream – To prevent the bites when you are in the cave
  3. Camera – It is a MUST!!
  4. Long Sleeping Pants – It is cold at night
  5. A LOT OF CASH – There is NO ATM MACHINE in Mulu and they mostly only accept CASH.
  6. Make Pre-Booking for your caves visiting trip – It always full

ACCOMMODATION

Remember to make your pre-booking in the long house stay as it is a HOT DEAL for visitors. If you couldnt get a long house room then you have to sleep in the dorm with the rest of 20 stranges by sharing the bath room. The long house room is nice and it is cheap as it only cost RM 100-120 per night which u have 2 double bed in a room. So, for friends who are travelling in four, you can save your accommodation expensive by sharing a room in long house.

COST FOR TRIP

Make early flight booking to avoid expensive flight tickets. Package for travel all the caves and spot can be purchase in a very reasonable price at the entrace counter of Mulu Park. Estimated around RM500 per person if you get a cheap flight.

Taiwan Trip – 2006

DSC00067

Year 2006 is a miserable year to me, I have a broken relationship in the early of the year and all I do is running away. So, Taiwan become a sudden saver to me. I touched down to this country with a lot of mix feelings

3154360323559l

My cousin brother, Dixon invited me to join his couple friends – Andy & May to the trip. I really need this trip badly. I need to breath the air out from this country.

DSC00070

I do have to admit that I feel better once we reached Taiwan. Even the bus ticket from airport to our hotel has the “weird name” FREE GO BUS, a direct translate from the chinese spelling of “fei gou” TAIWAN BOLEH!

DSC00079

Our hotel rooms located exactly the middle of XI MEN DING. You can see how noisy the crowd is even its already 12am in the midnight.

DSC00151

I bought a HUGE sausage for my supper while walking alone on the street. My cousin was shopping with the couple.

DSC00150

May was in love with mineral water packaging. Honestly, it looks better than ours back in Malaysia.

DSC00147

When I walk pass this stall, I was so surprise what drink is that. Cause it stated there, “Frog’s egg”

DSC00148

When I really look into the big container, it was the ICE LEMON JELLY JUICE we can always found in Malaysia’s night market (pasar malam). But, the taste is much more better than those you found in Malaysia.

ABCD0015

I tried the ice-cream puff which is very popular around SHI LIN night market. It might be taste nice on the first bite, but it turns very cooling until I feel like I’m going to vomit out after I finish the whole puff.

DSC00511

This is the pizza puff that I took after I enjoy my Hot Spring. This pizza puff taste so nice, I took 5 puffs in one shot. I guess I got my cousin shocked~haha!

DSC00211

We went to WU FEN PU for shopping. Its a shopping heaven to us! Its cheap and trendy! And I love this pic so much~as I look so yeng~hehe

DSC00223

DSC00216

As Jean request me to take pic with some leng lui in Taiwan, too bad I couldnt find anyone, so have to take pic with these two sales girl. =)

31543462137900l

We went to this boating season and got stuck in a big cave. Thanks to Dixon and I who have no good skills on this. Haha~ have to practice more in genting highlands.

ABCD0019

DSC00146

We met these two cute doggies when we were shopping at TAN SHUI night market. The shop owners keep showing off their dogs and they do some sharing about their doggies.

DSC00448

I love this piece of art the most. It is the cover of one of the longkang hole that I have to pass by everytime I on my way back to hotel.

DSC00559

The day I am leaving back to Malaysia, I went for a shop in The Red House. It was like a modernise lifestyle in an old stylish building. I feel like I was stuck between two different decades. Taiwan? I will visit again~

HOW TO GET THERE

Now you can fly with Air Asia with cheaper price. But I went to Taiwan via Singapore. I took MAS from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. From Singapore, I took Jetstar (which available in Malaysia now) to Taiwan. Its a 5 hours journey but the tickets for Jetstar including return only cost me RM1,000.00

PLACES TO VISIT

  1. XI MEN DING (西门町)
  2. JIU FEN (九粉)
  3. DAN SHUI (淡水)
  4. YU REN MA TOU (渔人码头)
  5. SHI LIN NIGHT MARKET (士林夜市)
  6. DAN SHUI NIGHT MARKET (淡水夜市)
  7. YANG MING SHAN (阳明山)
  8. GUANDU
  9. TAIPEI 101
  10. KEE LUNG CITY (基隆)
  11. BEUTO HOT SPRING REGION (北斗温泉)
  12. LONG SHAN TEMPLE (龙山诗)
  13. THE RED HOUSE (红楼剧场)
  14. WU FEN PU (五分浦)

Sorry mates, I cant remember much where I have been to

BEFORE YOU GO

As if you are holding Malaysian Passport, no visa is applicable to visit this country but you can only have your stay for 14 days. If you are planning to stay more than the length, you have to apply for visa. Special charges for Taipei City are i) single entry – RM 100.00 ii) multiple entry – RM200.00

TRAVEL SUGGESTION

If you are following a tour, then you don’t have to worry about this. But my suggestions will go to those who plan to travel by themselves.

Things you remember to grab

  1. MRT CARD – such as touch n go for buses and train
  2. BUS ROUTE – you can get it at the airport information counter
  3. LATEST UPDATED MAP – THIS IS A MUST. I have no idea how are you going to move around without map
  4. COUNTRY SIM CARD – if you plan to keep contact with your friends in Malaysia, please do buy a disposable sim card to save your phone bill cost

**if possible, don’t take the cab/taxi in Taiwan, it’s costly and some of them are not honest (just like Malaysian lah~)

ACCOMMODATION

I suggest you make a early booking from the internet and do not stay inside XI MEN DING. This is the huge mistake that I have made. It is costly and not worth for the price. Book a hotel that nearby to bus station or MRT station. You may also book a hotel that require few minutes walk to the station. Trust me, it is more worth than paying  NT 1200 per night for a room like your hostel.

COST FOR TRAVEL

Excluding air tickets expenses, its very cheap to travel around Taiwan. The only weak point is you have to bargain when you are shopping in the night market. Never go to the mall. Cause you can get cheaper Branded gadgets or clothes in Malaysia.

TAIWAN

Happy travel in Taiwan~ Muacks

Australia Trip – Perth, 2005

This trip was a sudden planning. I never foreseen myself to travel that far as my target is to move along South-East-Asia before I proceed to any western country. (During 2005, Australia haven’t declare them-self as part of Asia)

It was my mum idea which suggest me to go around Australia and have some experience with breeding horses as I always stick with the Trainers and Owners from the Turf Club to gain more knowledge in horsing industry.

My destination for this trip is Perth, Australia. I am looking forward for this trip as it will be a journey to explore things outside Malaysia. As usual, Ms Kam will be following me after a long and patience persuade to her and her mum. We will be departing once we finish our final exam on September 2005.

We manage to get our air tickets from SIA with a super cheap price during MATTA fair. It only cost RM2,800 return tickets for TWO~!! We started to have lots of planning as we will be going there alone~! Or I should be saying only TWO PENANG KIA going by themselves huh? wuahaha~

Once we touched down in Perth, there was someone to pick us up from airport and drive us to Mr. Jeremy Smith’s place. Thanks to the wide networking from Madam Lim. We got the free rides.

We actually spent most of our time in breeding farm to learn most of the daily work for breeding good horses and during the weekends, we went out to the city by our own. We rent a bag packers Hotel – Grand Hotel near to Wellingston Street. It only cost AUD$16 per night. During our third weeks in Perth, we went to Burstwood Hotel to enjoy the luxury stay and travel to Freementle and Swan River Valley. I do have a little small fight with Ms Kam when we visit the zoo because of the plastic Dinosaur. (yaya..!! I know it’s kind of childish)

I discovered some weird things during my exploration in the city. I realised that the people over the street will look at us when we are taking the photos by ourselves. For the example, the below photo is the photo we took it with the auto-captured features by the camera itself and I saw a bunch of people just stop walking and look at us.

AT68

Well, I guess at that time maybe we are stepping on something weird? Who knows? HoHo

It was an awesome trip after all and Ms Kam even cried so sadly when the day we have to leave Perth.

Great trip? Yeah~! At least I makes more friend over there. Thanks Jeremy and Miles Anderson. Of course to my Dearest Mum.

Places that I visited during year 2005

  • Perth Zoo
  • Freementle
  • Round House
  • Wet Market – Freementle
  • Beach
  • Woodman’s Point
  • Mandurah
  • Kings Park
  • Barrack Street Jetty
  • Woodbridge house
  • Sandalford Vineyard
  • Northbridge

Budget for the trip : No adjustment

Actual Cost: RM6000 included 2 return tickets + 1 month stay at Perth, Australia.

Singapore Trip 2005

I started to travel around since I started to earning my own money when I was 17 years old. Self-finance myself very well and that’s why I got the chances to travel around without burdering my mum’s pocket. HoHo

This was the very FIRST trip I traveled with my ex and it was a self-funding trip. We were there for 5 days and I really enjoy every moment with her.

Places that I visit during Year 2005

- Arab Street
- Bugis Street
- Singapore Zoo
- Night Safari
- Jurong Bird Park
- Sentosa Island
- Experiencing Bus tour around the town
- Clarke Quay

Planning Budget – S$600

Actual Expenses – S$480

The accommodation for this trip was sponsored by my friend Mrs Lim. So this cut a lot of costing to us. Further more, I would advise people who wanted to travel in Singapore, get yourself an EzLink Card. It is cheaper than paying on spot. You may also use credit card for your Cab charges. Some cabs even equipt with latest GPS system. The Best thing is you don’t have to worry about cab slaughter in Singapore. They are always HONEST!! YEAH~! I mean it~!!
