15) Systems Support Engineer
The SGI Customer Services team has a vacancy for a System Support Engineer based in Kuala Lumpur. This technical position will be responsible for the delivery of industry leading Support Services and Managed Services on a wide range of SGI hardware and software products from single servers to High performance computing environments, including LINUX and Windows clusters solutions and data storage and backup solutions. This is a full time position and will include some after hours work, weekend work and travel.
Essential requirements include a tertiary qualification in computer science, engineering or an equivalent related field. Additional requirement follow;
- Linux or UNIX administration and support experience
- Hardware field service experience on mid-range to large computer systems and storage subsystems with proven problem solving ability.

A) PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 To be responsible for maintaining Mechanical and Electrical Systems of the building assigned.
- To carry out daily inspection and monitoring for HT and LV switchboards, bus-ducts, transformers, switchgears and TNB supply.
- To ensure that all mechanical pump-sets are regularly checked and report to Building Executive weekly.
- To inspect all equipments in the Security Control Room and advise management on the status and conditions of the equipments.
- To ensure that all M & E Plans, Certificates and Fixture are orderly kept.
- Preventive and plan maintenances for HT equipments and accessories c/w data tracking, calibration, energy management, load balancing, load test and etc.
- To carry out preventive maintenance as per standing operation procedures.
- To acknowledge Service Orders that assigns by Help Desk and then dedicates work tasks to subordinates. Updated info of work progress for individual Service Order must be feed back to Help Desk within 48hours.
2.0 To supervise external contractors works / service and monitor their performance.
- To obtain a list of all Mechanical and Electrical service contractors for provide necessary technical support on rectification works.
- To identify service contractor scope of works and submit monthly schedule of contract service chit received for all services carried out to Building Executive for vetting.
- To inform management contractor’s competency and service performance rendered.
- To report any fault or failure immediately to the management during the servicing time and recommend for follow up action.
- To supervise external contractor closely during the time of servicing and verify wireman’s report.
3.0 To carry out in-house maintenance, inspection and testing as assigned by the management.
- To carry out weekly standby Generator and Fire Pump-sets Testing.
- To check Fire Alarm Control Panel and print-out daily.
- To verify wireman’s checklist report and submit weekly to Building Executive.
- To carry out all necessary maintenance works and checklist as assigned by management i.e. all types of water pumps, cooling tower, WCPU, ACSU, sewerage treatment plant (STP), ventilation fans and etc.
- To ensure that maintenance schedule is been followed in accordance to the safety requirement and operating procedures.
- To carry out weekly inspection on roof top, staircase, back of house, car park, etc to ensure building maintenance, cleanliness, safety and security of building are well maintained.
- To recommend to the management measures that can be taken to achieve cost saving in maintenance.
- To maximize utilization on deployment of electricians and resources.
- Etc.
4.0 To communicate with building occupants efficiently.
- To attend to all Service Request/complain by building occupants and keep Building Executive informed of the status of work.
- To check and monitor any renovation works to be carried out by tenants or owners in respect of electrical systems, statutory and safety requirements.
- To verify use of Service Lift Request by building occupants or external contractors and type of goods to be transferred.
- To provide good customer service and to build good relationship with building occupants/tenants.
5.0 To ensure that all emergency services are serviceable at all times.
- To draw up a list of emergency management services and contractors’ contacts for a contingency plan.
- To inspect, monitor and test all emergency equipments and installations as per schedule.
B) SECONDARY FUNCTION AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To supervise mechanical and electrical building repair, renovate and upgrading projects, custodial services and preventive maintenance program.
- To develop short and long terms/range building maintenance plans and recommends additional personnel, equipment and/or materials for inclusion in the budget.
- To provide direction and improve methods and productivity. Monitor work of staff to ensure adherence to work rules and standards.
- To carry out in-house maintenance, inspection and rectification for civil and architecture works.
- To perform quality and conformance inspections of work completed by contractors on construction projects.
- To monitor and analyze energy consumption by reviewing energy use records to determine operating efficiency. Recommend building modifications, or make changes in operating procedures to maximize energy and maintenance efficiency.
- To develop and maintain necessary records and reports such as equipment and supplies inventories, damage reports, preventive maintenance and repair records, key and lock index.
- To assist executives to carry out energy saving/management exercise.
